Issues


The client had recently closed an office and moved its operation into a single new building. While every effort had been made to retain and motivate staff, there had been several high profile departures. The client felt that morale was “flat” and needed a better understanding of the issues that affected staff morale. The client had already tried a staff survey but felt that they needed more detail and a better grasp of any underlying concerns within the group.

The Solution


We undertook to observe the staff and management while they worked to develop a clearer understanding. We also facilitated a series of informal meetings with small groups where we encouraged people to express views about their current situation. We then drafted an Observation Report that was distributed to all staff before asking for confidential feedback. This feedback allowed us to verify our initial findings and add more detail into the final report.
At the end of the process we conducted a meeting with senior managers where we outlined our findings and recommendations.

Follow up


A management team worked out an action plan based on our recommendations.
